Radiographic Assessment of Third Molars Agenesis Patterns in Young Adults

Objective:  To determine the prevalence of third molar agenesis and associated characteristics.  Material Methods:  A total  of 2374 panoramic radiographs were retrieved from radiological archives evaluated in a computer monitor under optimum viewing conditions. The basic demographic data (age sex) primary findings regarding presence or absence of  molars  in maxillary mandibular arches recorded systematically specially designed proforma. Categorical variables compared using Chi-square test.  Results: A 2000 included study, which 1004 females (50.2%), 996 males (49.8%). incidence was 486 patients (24.3%). Maxillary showed higher (28.8%) than (16.4%) . 1514 (75.7%) had  all four quadrants, remaining (24.3%) had  tooth at least one quadrants. Single tooth observed 219 (11%) patients, two teeth 172 (8.6%) three 39 (2%) 56 (2.8%) patients.  Conclusion:  The present study exhibited maximum number single agenesis. It also that is more right side left side. Agenesis prevalent as to females.
